Nina Chong is a native New Yorker who began her training at neighborhood schools until receiving scholarships to train at the Ballet Hispanico school and The Joffrey Ballet School as a part of the Ballet Trainee Program. She currently holds a B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS. As a professional, Nina has performed in the companies of H.T. Chen & Dancers, Michael Mao Dance Company, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Rennie Harris Puremovement, IKADA Contemporary Dance Company, LaneCo Arts, and Drye/Marinaro Dance Company amongst others. She has performed works by The Royal Ballet, Neos Dance Theatre, and numerous accomplished choreographers. Her own creations have been performed in Mississippi, New York, and Israel, and she is currently a sponsored guest choreographer for Dance into Deliverance. She has taught and performed internationally, most recently in Villapiana, Italy by invitation of FINI Dance.
Nina loves to write poetry and read. Her current research involves the in-depth understanding of the subconscious mind and she is currently exploring this in her latest choreography under the dance company, Dance into Deliverance. She loves teaching, especially with children, and is passionate about her students understanding that dance technique enhances what is within you as a human being. She loves God and is grateful to Him for all the blessings and opportunities in her life.
